The advent of pop-culture politics and entertainment journalism has brought forth a divergence in belief systems, sending the public into mass bewilderment. Nobody lives what they believe or believes how they live. They attach themselves with terms they do not fully comprehend, or perhaps even disagree with, because the media misconstrues denotations with their connotations. The ideal has become grey.
For our purposes we will section an ideal into two parts:
The Superficial: the practical application of the ideal and specific issues; choosing whether or not to litter, supporting a high import tariff, being pro-choice.
The Fundamental: the core belief, which establishes the Superficial; are all men created equal?
Conservatism is an ideal.
Sensational commentators and figureheads have become the bases and embodiments of sociopolitical ideals. These icons nearly always contradict each other in the Superficial, though they may agree in the Fundamental.
The problem with this is that in the media, the Fundamental is rarely conveyed or debated. How can a society fully embrace an ideal and practice this ideal through-and-through, when only the Superficial is articulated?
The Conservative Man’s vision is to emphasize both the Superficial and the Fundamental. Through comprehensive analyses, we hope to reveal an ideal that transcends political boundaries; a philosophical approach to life, which will align attitudes, beliefs, and actions.
So in a sentence: A culmination of historical and modern conservatism, translated into a philosophical form that produces a congruent belief system.
What do we envision?
We do not assert to be the “end-all” to conservatism, or claim to be the embodiments of this. We are just seeking to substantiate an idea. This being said, we invite anyone to submit to us an article or post, we will review it of course for purposes of integrity, and then post and archive it to the site, under the (Man)-ifesto, to be accessed in the future.
